Mount Horeb's Main Street is a center of activity where you'll find specialty shops, antique shops, including four large antique malls with over 100 individual dealers and great food! A majority of the Trollway shops are open from 10 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. seven days a week year around. The area features several one-of-a-kind historic attractions that are sure to be of interest and adventure!

Known as "Troll Capital of the World," Mount Horeb's Main Street is lined with life-size mythical creatures. Carved out of the trunks of trees by sculptor Michael Feeney, the trolls guide visitors through the historic village of Mount Horeb, often pointing to places to shop, eat and relax.

Enjoy hearing the tales of the Mount Horeb Area "Country Trolls" with a group tour.

Little Norway is located in "the Valley of the Elves" and built by a Norwegian immigrant in the 1860's. This unique outdoor museum features the largest privately-owned collection of Norwegian antiques in the country. Tour guides dressed in traditional Norwegian apparel guide visitors through the original buildings, including the Norwegian Pavilion from the 1893 Chicago World's Fair.


MOUNT HOREB MUSTARD MUSEUM is home to more than 4,200 different types of mustard from all 50 states and exotic lands, visitors can watch a video on how mustard is made and find literature and cookbooks on the condiment. The museum's gift shop offers condiments of all kinds, sweets and unusual foods from all over the world.

District #1 Old Schoolhouse is the oldest surviving educational building in Mount Horeb, built between 1884-1889. It is currently in the renovation process with plans underway for a school museum and visitor center.

Education is an important part of our area! The public schools are ranked top in the nation in academic excellence. We are located near the capital, Madison, which is home to the University of Wisconsin, the Overture Center and Monona Terrace which all offer numerous cultural events.

Cave of the mounds is a guided tour of this National Natural Landmark takes visitors through a cavern of colorful stalactites, stalagmites, waterfalls and other mineral formations. Located in the hills of Blue Mounds the limestone cave was accidentally discovered in 1939 and opened to visitors in 1940.

Botham Vineyards is located amid the rolling hills of the Iowa County Uplands, this 15-acre vineyard features its own on-site winery and a renovated 100 year-old barn that functions as a tasting room, art gallery and gift shop.

Tyrol Basin is known in the ski industry to be on the cutting edge of design, construction and maintenance. Located on 40 acres four miles outside of Mount Horeb this ski and snowboard area offers winter enthusiasts 12 tree-lined slopes situated on a 300-foot vertical hill and a halfpipe, considered the best in the Midwest.

Norsk Golf & Bowl has year round Recreation. Golf Course-Season passes, catered golf outing, lessons, full pro shop. Bowling-bumper bowling, youth parties. Sports Bar & Grill-horseshoes, game room perfect for parties.

Deer Valley Golf Course is one of southern Wisconsin's most beautiful and challenging golf courses, this par 72 Championship Golf Course is to suit all player skill levels from scratch player to beginner. Rental clubs, power carts and pull carts available as well as a full service practice facility with PGA Pro. Corporate, Private, Group, and custom golf packages available. Party tent available for weddings and golf utings.

Blue Mound State Park is the highest point in Southern Wisconsin. Enjoy scenic panoramic views from two 40-foot park observations towers. The campground is open year around and contains 77 wooded sites and a rustic accessible cabin for people with disabilities.

Military Ridge State Trail is a 39-mile trail runs through the heart of Mount Horeb. Once a Chicago and Northwestern Railroad line, Mount Horeb is centrally located along the trail and offers visitors a scenic view of the village - along with a little exercise.

Brigham County Park is minutes from Mount Horeb and located a few miles from Blue Mound State Park and Cave of the Mounds, features twelve campsites, picnic areas, playgrounds and anoramic views of the Wisconsin River Valley and the Baraboo Bluffs.

Donald Park is located between Mount Horeb and Mt. Vernon on State Hwy 92, it is part of the Dane County Park system and provides recreational and equestrian opportunities for local residents.

Stuart County Park was established in 1935, making it the first County Park in Dane County. Within this 191-acre park is shimmering Stewart Lake, an artificial lake on spring-fed tributary of Blue Mound Creek. The lake offers a challenge for Trout and Bass fishing. Recreational facilities include picnic shelters, play equipment, cross-country ski and hiking trails. Stewart Park can be reached by traveling north on County Highway JG.
